26/04/2008 TIGERS U8S - NEWPORT TIGERS 4 SOUTHSIDE SCORPIANS 5

Saturday morning sees the Tigers play at home and take on the Southside Scorpians who were a big strong physical side.

Tigers started off a bit slow and soon see the Scorpians hitting the upright of the Tigers goal, minutes later the Scorpians found the back of the net 0-1.

After a lot of battling in midfield from Junior, Matthew and George the ball fell to Reece who made a run down the wing and brought the Tigers back in the game 1-1.

The second quarter started better for the tigers with some shots on goal from Reece and George but the Scorpians piled on the pressure and found themselves living in the Tigers half. The Scorpians had two shots cleared off the line by Aiden and Liam which resulted in a corner for the Scorpians who found the back of the Tigers net when it went in off Liam 1-2

Third quarter see the Tigers pick their game up with a lot of passing from the whole team and with good defending from Callum and Joel,and good saves from Matthew despite having a damaged ankle, Junior had a shot that just went wide into the side netting. Tigers started to battle more and pushed forward and found themselves at 2-2 when Liam put one in over the top of the keeper.

Final quarter and all to play for
George was first out of the blocks and had a crack at goal but it was saved by the Scorpians goalie who cleared it up field to catch out the tigers 2-3. Soon after a big kick up field again and the Tigers were picking the ball out of their net 2-4.minutes later the Scorpians scored again!!!!! 2-5. Reece started to make some superb runs through midfield and break up the Scorpians defence to gain the tigers a corner to which Liam found the back of the net 3-5.A few mins to go and it was all Tigers on the attack when Liam thumped in his third of the game to make it 4-5 final score.

Saturday Morning See The Tigers Travel Away To Olney Town.
Olney Were Quick Out Of The Blocks And Saw N.Port Tigers Under Early Pressure From The Off With About 5 Minutes Of Continuous Defending In The Newport Half. After Newport Found Their Feet They Started To Push Into The Olney Half With Liam Taking Some Darting Runs Down The Wing And With Shots From Matthew And Reece That Were Just Wide Of The Post.

After Half Time N.Port Went Back Out And Found Themselves Defending Once Again .The Tigers Picked Their Game Up And Soon Found Themselves With A Corner Which Hit The Post From A Shot From Matthew. Minutes Later Liam Put The Tigers 1-0 Up When He Found The Back Of The Olney Net With His Second Goal In As Many Games . George, Joel, Liam And Jnr Were Working Well In Midfield And Also Doing A Great Job Dropping Back To Help Defend.

Olney Broke Through Down The Wing To See Their Striker On A One To One With Gk Mathew.Matt Was Quick Off His Line And Went In On A Crunching Tackle To Save The Tigers.Newport Pushed Into The Olney Half Once Again And Saw Aiden Put The Tigers 2-0 Up With A Long Range Shot And Minutes Later Another One Just Wide Of The Post By Jnr.Olney Came Back And Only Had Callum To Beat But He Stood Strong And The Player And Ball Soon Found Themselves Kicked Out Of Play.
Last Five Mins Saw Newport Dominate The Park With More Corners And Shots On Goal,With The Last Kick Of The Game Jnr Made It 3-0 To The Tigers.

Saturday Morning See The Tigers Travel Away To Water Eaton Yellow For Their First Match In Nearly A Month.
The First Quarter Started Off Rearly Well With Both Teams Battling Very Hard At Both Ends Of The Pitch 0-0

Second Quarter Sees The Tigers Use The Ball A Lot More With Matthew And Junior Controlling The Middle Of The Park.And With Some Nice Passes And Long Runs Down The Wing Which Resulted In Reece Crossing The Ball Through To The Box For Liam To Open The Scoring For The Tigers 0-1

Third Quarter Sees The Yellows Score More Or Less Straight Away As The Tigers Were Caught Knapping.The Tigers Picked Themselves Up And Were Back On The Attack With Some Long Range Shots By Junior And Liam That Were Just Wide .Minutes Later Reece Went On A Run Down The L/H Side And Put The Ball In The Back Of The Net To Take The Tigers Into A 2-1 Lead,And Also Just Missed Out On The Tigers Third When His Free Kick Just Went Wide Of The L/H Post.1-2

Final Period Sees The Tigers Give Away A Soft Goal 2-2 Due To Lack Of Concentration And Tired Legs With Only 1 Spare Sub,But They Continued To Battle With Some Quick Throw Ins And More Shots On Target.Last Min Tigers Threw Everything They Had At It And Junior Had The Last Shot Of The Game Which Was Saved By The Goalie.

Drayton Park 5 Newport Tigers 3

It Was A Cold And Frosty Saturday Morning Which Saw The Tigers Travel Away To Drayton Park.
The Match Started Off Very Well And Saw The Tigers Take An Early Lead From A Well Taken Goal From Reece To Which Was Followed Up Minutes Later With A 2Nd Goal From Aiden 2-0 First Quarter.

Second Quarter We Seemed To Fall Asleep And Conceeded Two Soft Goals With Some Dubious Refereeing To Hand.

Third Quarter We Conceeded Another Goal But Tigers Battled Hard And Soon Saw Aiden Get His Second Goal Of The Match .

Final Quarter It Was All To Play For At 3-3 The Tigers Battled Really Hard And Were Very Unlucky To Find Another Two Goals Were In The Back Of The Tigers Net.The Team Overall Played Well With Some Nice Passing And Were Unlucky To Loose The Game 5-3.

The tigers played MK Wanderers away on Saturday and lost 5 - 1. It was 5 - 0 after 20 mins then we started to play good football. Aidan Barnes scored our goal and also got man of the match.

22/9/07

Under 8's Tigers played Heelands and lost 0-7. Played well for our second match with a couple of chances to score. Unfortunately it showed that they have been playing as a team for over a year and they were just too organised for us. No problems within the match and Heelands played very fair.
