Newport Pagnell Town manager Darren Lynch on their 1-0 win against PNS:
"We travelled to Peterborough North Star for our last game of the season and determined to get the 3 points so we finished in 8th and not just let it pass us by.
It was difficult conditions for both teams with a strong wind that really spoiled the game not allow either team to play decent football and with the wind against us in the 1st half I expected an onslaught but too be honest it never came and the lads defended really well and created a couple of half decent chances without testing their keeper and the half petered out at 0-0.
I made a change during the interval and brought on Tom Liversedge who returned from injury and switched formation and made sure that the players played football and not just lumped it forward, the way the game was going it was always going too be who scored first would win the game and we huffed and puffed but never really worked the keeper enough.
The breakthrough came with 8 mins to go when good work from Damon Herbert & Harry Stratton gave Dom Lawless the opportunity to finish and as usual he didn’t let us down and fired into the bottom left hand corner.
As like the past weeks our game management was spot on and we saw out the game to finish 8th.
Time for a well earned break and recharge for next season!"
